On September 28 at the National Theater the musical ‘Pretty Woman’ – The Mohican will debut – D1SoftballNews.com

M.Tuesday September 28 the National Theater CheBanca raises the curtain with the debut of the musical ‘Pretty Woman’. Written in pairs by Garry Marshall And Jonathan F. Lawton, respectively the film’s original director and screenwriter, the show uses a soundtrack that is a mix of pop and romantic songs written by two excellent composers, Bryan Adams and its trusted co-author Jim Vallance, and the unforgettable 1964 worldwide hit ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’ by Roy Orbison.

The theatrical adaptation maintains the narrative structure of the film success awarded in 1991 with a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Film (Julia Roberts) and faithfully traces the moments of Vivian and Edward’s love story. Alongside the sentimental theme, which has in fact fascinated a heterogeneous audience of dreamers and dreamers, some very current themes are still the strong point of this tireless story halfway between Cinderella And My Fair Lady. The revenge of a woman in search of herself and her dignity, the change of two different people, by class, who do not discriminate against each other but who get closer to each other by revolutionizing themselves and their way of thinking, the strength of feelings that have the better of fame and money, the overcoming of appearances in a world that cannot go beyond preconceptions. A hymn to freedom that overcomes prejudices and conventions, a transversal story that overcomes social and age differences.

The protagonist is the music of the 80s, performed live by a band of 6 elements in a pop / rock style, just like the author of the soundtrack, Bryan Adams. The music is typical of the years between 1980 and 1990 as are the settings of the show. Just as on the scene conflicting feelings are faced and experienced, so the romantic themes will…

Shamokin looks to get back on track against Nanticoke

Shamokin Area will attempt to bounce back from a poor performance last week against Selinsgrove tonight against a winless Greater Nanticoke in a road game that has now taken on big proportion for the 1-2 Indians.

Shamokin cannot afford a third straight loss, especially against a team which has struggled itself in recent years, with much hope of having the kind of season the Indians have envisioned.

Lamont Says CT Sports Betting Starting Soon, But There’s A Catch

Gov. Ned Lamont is ready for CT sports betting to get started, but he might have jumped the gun a bit in recent comments.

Lamont said sports betting could begin “any day now” at the two tribal casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

“My instinct is the tribes, hopefully, will do something collaboratively at the same time on site, and we’re just waiting for the final approval so we can get everything going online as well,” Lamont added.

While some local media took Lamont’s comments to mean CT sports betting could launch this week, that likely is not the case.

CT sports betting still has steps to take

The federal Department of Interior gave its blessing on updated gaming agreements between the state and its two tribal partners last week.

Those agreements must appear in the Federal Register to take effect, though. Lamont’s office assumed that would happen the same day the approvals arrived, a spokesperson said.

It will take about a week to square away all the licensing issues before those retail bets can happen after publishing, the spokesperson added.

The state’s three online sportsbooks should still launch simultaneously in October:

Connecticut another legal option for Massachusetts bettors

There is another group of bettors eagerly waiting for the launch of sports betting in Connecticut: Massachusetts residents.

The Massachusetts Senate is again holding up the discussion on legalizing sportsbooks in the Bay State. Its proposed bill was not updated following a stakeholder meeting in June. The House, meanwhile, amended its bill and passed it by a 156-3 margin.

Gov. Charlie Baker is growing impatient as well. He tweeted Sunday it’s time to get Massachusetts sportsbooks legalized, adding the state is losing out to many neighbors. So far, Massachusetts has three neighboring states that accept…

Enjoy 20 outdoor events throughout the Delaware River Watershed during River Days 2021

This year, for so many reasons, people have sought solace in the outdoors and found a new, or renewed connection with nature. During September and October, the 23 environmental centers that make up the Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River (AWE) will host family-friendly activities as part of the organization’s annual River Days festivities, to help bring people together safely for environmentally-focused events.

Visitors to AWE centers this fall will also be AWEd by the Water Spirit sculpture installations found at many sites throughout the watershed. The site-specific series, made entirely of plant material, was created by Seattle-based environmental artist Sarah Kavage, in collaboration with local artists. All AWE centers will also offer visitors free decks of Aqua Marooned! a card game created by Philly-based immersive experience company Swim Pony that encourages emotional connection with flora and fauna. The game’s beautifully illustrated cards cast players as extraterrestrial explorers sent to explore earth’s mysterious “watersphere.” Both projects are part of arts initiative Lenapehoking~Watershed: a place for water art and culture.
