Peter Wright, a darts player, takes two hours to do his mohawk, which he does with the help of his wife Joanne. » Brinkwire

Peter Wright, a darts player, spends two hours getting his mohawk done, with the help of his wife Joanne.

Peter Wright’s distinctive mohican and facial ‘war paint’ have made him the most recognisable darts star in the world, and he owes the transformation to his wife and daughter.

On Monday evening, Peter Wright will compete in his third PDC World Darts Championship final at Ally Pally, wearing his trademark mohawk and ‘war paint’.

Snakebite put on a memorable performance in their semi-final on Sunday, defeating fellow Scot Gary Anderson, and will now face Michael Smith after Bully Boy destroyed James Wade.

Wright is confident after winning the World Matchplay and Players Championship Finals in 2021, after becoming World Champion for the first time in 2020.

The 51-year-old began his career with the BDO in 1995, and he was unrecognizable without his now-familiar look, which his loved ones had crafted for him.

Jo, Peter’s manager and wife, is a hairdresser by trade and was instrumental in shaping Snakebite’s flamboyant look during his professional darts career.

She runs a salon in Lowestoft, Suffolk, called Medusa Hair, where she once spent nearly five hours perfecting a look for her other half.

“It takes about two hours every day in my chilling out time after practice,” he said in 2013.

My wife Jo is doing my hair while I relax.”

In the comments section, tell us who you think will win the PDC Darts World Championships in 2022.

“It’s down to my daughter because she’s the one who has all different color hair and I thought ‘I’ll try that,” she told the Mail.

“It was the first time any other dart player tried it, and it just stuck.”

It’s like going to war with my war paint on,…

Residents react to gas company plans in Luzerne County

A gas company plans to build a multi-billion-dollar plant in Luzerne County and some neighbors to the property are concerned.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — In Late October, gas company Nacero announced its next big project, selecting part of Luzerne County as the location for a $6 billion facility that would convert natural gas to gasoline.

The Texas-based company has its sights set on this 3,000-acre plot of land in Nanticoke and Newport Township. If all goes as planned, the company hopes to start construction in the next two years.

The company says it would hire some 3,500 workers to complete the four-year project and would employ 450 people full-time when the plant opens. Carol Chupcavich lives just up the hill from the proposed site.

“We need work in the area, just like in Hanover. Here, it doesn’t bother me in the least. We need work,” said Carol Chupcavich of Newport Township.

But others on the street see it differently. Laura Keener says she didn’t receive any notice the plant could be built so close.

“It came as a bit of a shock since we live right here, and it could certainly affect us in many different ways. Traffic, noise, pollution, you name it,” said Keener of Newport Township.

Keener and other concerned community members attended the first Newport Township Commissioners meeting of the year, some voicing their frustration.

“Just when there is a semblance of hope that a once-beautiful valley can again be restored to its fervent glory, in comes another fossil fuel company,” said Charlotte Santry Sopka of Glen Lyon.

The commissioners see the project as an opportunity for economic growth.

“The Newport Township Board of Commissioners are excited that our community has been selected as the site of what will be the largest economic development project in the…

Lenapehoking: The History of Lenape Forced Migrations

In this panel discussion commemorating the 2022 Lenapehoking exhibition at Brooklyn Public Library, the Lenape Center’s Curtis Zunigha and Joe Baker, and Indigenous historian Heather Bruegl discuss forced migrations of the Lenape people from their northeastern homeland.

Lenapehoking is the Lenape name for the Lenape homeland, which spans from Western Connecticut to Eastern Pennsylvania, and the Hudson Valley to Delaware, with Manhattan at its center. During the panel, hear Baker on his family’s experience of forced migration to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Bruegl on the Stockbridge-Munsee forced migration to Wisconsin, and Zunigha will describe the pre-settler colonialism map of Lenapehoking, tracing the scattering of the Nation to present day locations including 3 communities in the U.S. and 2 communities in Canada.

Joe Baker is an artist, educator, curator and activist who has been working in the field of Native Arts for the past thirty years. He is an enrolled member of the Delaware Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma and co-founder executive director of Lenape Center in Manhattan. Baker is an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of Social Work in New York and was recently Visiting Professor of Museum Studies at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He serves as a board member for The Endangered Language Fund, Yale University and on the Advisory Committee for the National Public Art Consortium, New York and cultural advisor for the new CBS Series, “Ghosts.”

Travel Advisory: RIDOT Closing Route 102 North in Both Directions at the Mohegan Bridge in Burrillville

RHODE ISLAND, January 4 – Beginning Friday, January 14, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is scheduled to close the Mohegan Bridge, which carries Route 102 (Bronco Highway) over the Branch River in Burrillville.

RIDOT began replacing this structurally deficient bridge in spring 2021, and detoured Route 102 northbound traffic. Closing the bridge entirely will allow construction to move ahead efficiently and safely with work on the northbound half of the bridge finishing in late spring/early summer 2022 before work begins on the southbound half of the bridge.

During the closure, RIDOT will sign a recommended detour for both northbound and southbound traffic using Douglas Turnpike (Route 7), Victory Highway and East Avenue. A detour map is available at www.ridot.net/DetourMaps. Temporary traffic signals will be put in place along the detour route to assist motorists.

In addition to replacing the bridge, the $10.6 million contract includes resurfacing Route 102 at the bridge and its approaches, including its intersection with Route 7. New guardrail, signing, striping and drainage improvements will also be installed as part of the project. The bridge carries about 15,200 vehicles per day. The project will be done in spring 2023.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.

The replacement of the Mohegan Bridge is made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT’s ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island’s transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs. Learn more at www.ridot.net/RhodeWorks.

Peter Wright unrecognisable without mohican haircut

Peter Wright is one of the most recognisable darts players in the world thanks to his eye-catching outfits, his sprayed mohican hair and also his ever-changing head paint.

With wife Jo helping him look his best for when he takes to the oche, Snakebite’s performances have skyrocketed since he took ownership of his new look – which he is rarely seen without.

However, there are times in which Wright has been seen without his trademark style, with no snake on the side of his head or colour and hairspray in his naturally white hair.

Wright joined the PDC back in 2004 following nine years of on-and-off performances in the BDO, having appeared in a plain black top with a more common hairstyle at the 1995 BDO World Darts Championship.

Wright told the Mail back in 2013: “It takes about two hours every day after practice in my chilling out time. I sit there chilling, and my wife Jo does my hair.

“It’s down to my daughter because she’s the one who has all different colour hair and I thought “I’ll try that”. No other dart players have tried it and it just stuck.

“I class it as going to war with my war paint on ready for battle.”

Jo who is also Peter’s manager, is a hairdresser by trade and has played a vital part in forming Snakebite’s flamboyant do during his time in professional darts.

She owns her own salon called Medusa Hair in Lowestoft, Suffolk, and once spent almost five hours perfecting a look for her other half.

Wright is currently ranked second in the world thanks to another fine year of earnings, having won the…

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Rehoboth Beach is a city along the Atlantic Ocean in eastern Sussex County, Delaware. A coastal city in Delaware’s growing Cape region, it is known for its extensive boardwalks, high-quality clean water, and attractions such as hotels, shopping opportunities, impressive cuisine, and various amusements. Rehoboth has a population of roughly 1,400, but visiting tourists can make this number feel much higher in peak season.

Geography Of Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth BeachHomes by the sea in Rehoboth Beach.

The city is approximately 4 square kilometers in area. The Atlantic Ocean borders it to the east, Henlopen Acres and Cape Henlopen State Park to the north, and Sussex County to the west. To the south of the city is the well-known Dewey Beach.

History Of Rehoboth Beach

The first known people to live in this area were indigenous Lenape, or Delaware people; Sikkonese; Assateague people; and the Nanticoke. The region was thought to have been an important fishing village, one of the largest on the mid-Atlantic coast.

Eventually, the expansion of English and Dutch settlements forced the native people from their land, causing them to migrate north or inland. Most of the indigenous people left completely. However, the Nanticoke, though generally forced out of their beach settlements, remained in the region.

Rehoboth Beach and the surrounding area were then later ruled by the Duke of York as part of the take over of the then Dutch colony in the area. English rule then transitioned into British America, including the colonies named New York, Wilmington, New Castle, and the Province of Pennsylvania. The land itself was split up into various holdings until the 18th century.
