Yet, owning two businesses has proved plenty good enough for her.
With the opening of a dispensary, the local nail artist has expanded her offerings and now provides an even more uplifting affair. Cussin’s Cannabis and Nail Salon is located at 2075 Central Ave. in Colonie and is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during its soft opening period.
“All the clients, when they leave the salon, the first thing that they do is they sit in their car for a couple minutes and they look at their nails,” said Rodriguez. “They’re feeling fresh, they’re feeling fly, and now they get to do all that, and also buy weed and go home with weed, which I think just literally elevates the whole experience.”
Rodriguez leases both storefronts in the Central Avenue building, with separate entrances situated on either side to access the different parts of the business, ensuring compliance with state regulations. The nail salon has been in business for six years and was formerly located on Jay Street in downtown Schenectady. The salon moved to the Central Avenue building in June of this year and some staffers work on both sides of the business.
“The majority of the walk-in traffic is definitely salon clients right now,” said Rodriguez. “And then, I would say after that, would be pick-up orders…People like to be able to just come in and it’s ready. You can be in and out in three minutes.”
To book services at the nail salon, Rodriguez highly recommends booking in advance as demand is high. She is not taking on any new clients herself, but some of her staffers — who she mentors through the process of running their business within a business — are. Reach the salon at 518-313-4200.
