The Holy Redeemer boys basketball team pulled ahead with a fourth-quarter surge to beat Loyalsock, knocking off the Lancers 61-53 on Wednesday night.
George Sabatini scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to help the Royals outlast Loyalsock; Mark Atherton was Redeemer’s leading scorer with 22 points. The Royals outscored Loyalsock 17-9 in the fourth quarter.
The Lancers were led by Jamaire Harden, who had 14 points.
Abington Heights 67, Nanticoke Area 20
The Comets’ firepower proved too much for Nanticoke Area to withstand.
Will Marion outscored the Trojans on his own, leading Abington Heights with 23 points.
Nanticoke was led in defeat by Jaidyn Johnson, who had five points and one of the Trojans’ two made three-pointers.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Wallenpaupack 40, Wyoming Area 23
Wallenpaupack pulled away late after a tight first half to beat the Warriors.
Ella Smith led all scorers with 19 points to pace the Buckhorns, who outscored Wyoming Area 18-9 in the second half.
Abby Sterba led the Warriors with 10 points, while Krea Bonita added eight points.
Allentown Dieruff 38, Berwick 23
An 11-2 edge in the third quarter helped Dieruff pull away from Berwick.
The Bulldogs trailed by just four at the half, but hit a drought after halftime and couldn’t keep up.
Lybbi Switzer led Berwick with six points, and Alysa Lewis added five. Aniya Holder scored 11 points to lead Dieruff.
Northwest 49, Millville 38
Karsyn Miner dropped 18 points as Northwest toppled Millville.
Miner knocked down a trio of three-pointers in the win. Jordin Bowman and Arheya Williams each scored nine points for the Rangers.
Millville was led by Larissa Evans, who led all scorers with 25 points.
