Pennsylvania May Internet Games Revenue Over $ 100 Million | Business

According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, revenue from online casino games in Pennsylvania exceeded $ 100 million a month for the first time since the state launched internet games in July 2019.

The Board of Directors reported that online casino game revenues were a record $ 101,251,771 in May, compared to $ 55,838,787 in May 2020. Total revenue exceeded the March record of $ 97.2 million.

Doug Herbach, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, said: “Growth should continue as more people are exposed to iGaming and understand the benefits of participating in regulated markets.”

Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County generated $ 6,312,909 in internet gaming revenue, and Planes Twp’s Mohegan San Pocono. According to figures released Thursday, it brought $ 1,948,354 in May.

Overall, the Pennsylvania Gambling Commission reported that total revenue from all forms of gambling, along with fantasy contests, reached $ 413,182,161.

Mount Airy’s total revenue in May was $ 24,370,700, and Mohegan San Pocono’s total revenue was $ 20,574,170.

As a result of the COVID-19 restrictions, all casinos were closed in May 2020, resulting in no revenue from slot machines, table games or retail sportsbooks.

The video game terminal was also not in operation in May 2020. Currently, there are video gaming terminals operating in two Onvo Travel Plazas in Wayne County, Onvo Travel Plazas in Susquehanna County, and 44 other locations in Pennsylvania, but not in Luzerne County or Lackawanna County. ..

According to Habach, 47 video game consoles are in operation, and there are 30 applications that are awaiting final approval or that are licensed but not yet in operation.

Pennsylvania’s online and retail sportsbook bets fell slightly in May, but state stakes exceeded $ 5 billion between fiscal years 2020 and 2021.

GCC urges Iraq, UN to complete maritime demarcation with Kuwait

RIYADH: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial council called on Iraq and the UN Wednesday to complete the demarcation of maritime border with Kuwait after the marker 162. In its final statement of the 148th session hosted by Riyadh, the council renewed its support to Security Council resolution no. 2017 of 2013 regarding referring the issues of Kuwaiti missing persons, properties and archives to the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). The council said that it looks forward to Iraq’s continued cooperation to guarantee progress in these dossiers.

GCC member states agreed on Wednesday that common challenges lie ahead some four decades after the bloc’s inception, highlighting the countries’ “intertwined fates”. The GCC has “risen to prominence” given its growing contributions towards global peace and security, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani said as he chaired bloc-wide talks on a foreign ministerial level with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser Al-Sabah among the participants.

He chronicled the bloc’s most notable accomplishments, saying member states should not “rest on their laurels” but strive for greater achievements that would help bring common aspirations to fruition. On the bloc’s primary concerns, he said the Palestinian issue takes precedence over other matters, emphasizing the ultimate goal of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He recalled a gathering of GCC leaders in the historic Saudi city of Al-Ula earlier this year, which yielded a resolution to a dispute between Qatar and Gulf states, hailing the event as a “significant show of Gulf solidarity and unity”. The Bahraini foreign minister shored up support for a Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Iran-allied Houthi group, saying the bloc supports all measures Riyadh takes to preserve its security and stability in the face…

Greater Nanticoke School Board asks Landmesser to resign

 			 				 Landmesser

Landmesser

NANTICOKE — Without comment both before the vote and after Thursday’s monthly meeting, the Greater Nanticoke Area School Board voted 8-0 to ask member Matthew Landmesser to resign his seat. The board also approved a final 2021-2 budget that raises taxes the state maximum of 4.5%, but that also keeps most of a $2.2 million fund balance intact.

Landmesser has missed multiple consecutive meetings, and has been dealing with police charges of invasion of privacy. The state School Code allows a school board to remove a member who misses two consecutive meetings, but there are exceptions that make the matter murky, District Solicitor Vito DeLuca said after the meeting. While the code seems clear, there have been state Supreme Court rulings that create gray areas regarding the reasons the person misses meetings.

If Landmesser agrees to resign, the board would have the option of appointing a replacement to fill his term. But DeLuca declined to say what the board options might be if he doesn’t resign.

The final budget keeps a 4.5% property tax increase that was in the proposed final budget approved last month, raising the tax rate to 12.4473 mills. A mill is a $1 tax on every $1,000 or assessed property value.

The final budget differs from the proposed budget in one significant way: The amount of reserves spent to balance income and spending. Business Consultant Tom Melone said the district had found various savings in supply purchases, health care costs and other places, coupled with some additional income through federal grant money to close a roughly $1.2 million gap in the preliminary budget that was to be…

New Mural Restores Old School’s Place In Bristol

Credit: Tom Sofield/LevittownNow.com

If you were driving along Otter Street in Bristol Borough, it wouldn’t be surprising that one would pass the plain-looking building in the 100 block of Otter Street without looking twice.

But starting this week, the building that presently is a warehouse for Harris Comfort is going to be a bit harder to miss.

Civic group Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar unveiled a new mural outside the building Wednesday morning.

With a healthy-sized crowd gathered outside the building that features the three-story circa-1851 schoolhouse nestle into it, Raising the Bar President Bill Pezza showed off the borough’s newest piece of public art.

Harold Mitchener, a historian from the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation, grew up right around the corner from the building. He highlighted the history of the school that often is passed by.

The gothic-style structure replaced a school on Wood Street in the 1850s. The new building served as a school for borough kids through the 1880s and was sold to the Mohican tribe when a new school on Bath Street opened. The former school was then named Mohican Hall. It held gatherings and was even used as a late 1880s roller-skating hall during a spike in the activity’s popularity.

Jermall Charlo: The Greatest Hits

A look at the finest performances in the career of the undefeated, two-division world champ ahead of his WBC World Middleweight title defense against Juan Macias Montiel Saturday night on PBC on SHOWTIME.

It doesn’t seem that long, though it is. Jermall Charlo has been a pro for a remarkable 14 years—and he still looks like he’s in his 20’s. Blink, and in a moment, Charlo is building a resume. Blink again, and he’s rated. Blink a third time, and he’s a 154-pound champion. Blink once more, and he’s the undefeated WBC World Middleweight Champion; one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound.

In the blink of an eye, the career of the 31-year-old from Houston, Texas, has gone by that quickly—and it’s still powerfully churning along.

On a Juneteenth Day celebration, Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) is bound to make challenger Juan Macias Montiel (22-4-2, 22 KOs) blink more than a few times when the two engage in the main event on PBC on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing this Saturday (9p.m. ET/6p.m. PT) from the Toyota Center in Houston.

Charlo is 6-0 in world championship fights, with four victories coming by knockout. He’s 3-0 (2 KOs) against current and former world champions (Cornelius Bundrage, Austin Trout and Julian Williams). Right now, no one appears to be in his way towards 160-pound domination.

We’d like to peel back the years and take a look at five victories that have defined Charlo so far.

5 CORNELIUS BUNDRAGE

Date: September 12, 2015

Location: Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, CT

At stake: Bundrage’s IBF world super welterweight title

Records at the time: Charlo 21-0 (17 KOs), Bundrage 34-5 (19 KOs)

Organizers seek public opinion on new art installations at Penns Landing in Philadelphia – NBC10 Philadelphia

A boat floating on the ground or a futuristic saucer? You can help select a new public art installation at Penns Landing by voting on the project proposals of six competing semi-finalists.

The award-winning site-specific design will be part of a 11.5-acre new park on Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River waterfront, which is due to be completed in 2025. The final project selection will be made within the next few months.

The Department of Arts, Culture, Creative Economy and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation seek the public opinion to determine the design that best suits the community. View suggestions, photos, and descriptions from artists before voting for competing designs. Online survey..

Competing proposals include sculptures with seating areas, artwork from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and towering views from Center City.

Olalekan Jeyifous’s “Goddess of Water” features the shape of a tall green mermaid-like woman sitting on her head, hump, and tail. The sculpture will “flow” through the park with three independent shade structures.

Tristan Al-Haddad’s “What If” is a stack of 27 large darkened iron plates with vertical engravings representing amendments to the US Constitution.

Douglas Hollis’ Vessel is a shade structure that looks like the hull of a boat when viewed from underwater. It is a figure that sways in the wind like a boat on the waves.

The “Forum” by Michelle Lopez and Sharon Hayes aims to celebrate the history of the city through the 18th-century coastline-shaped sidewalk of Lenape Wihtak, the name Lenape gave to the Delaware River. The installation also includes a fragment of the Pennsylvania Hall, an anti-slavery venue near the waterfront, burned down by a white mob in 1838.

Alice Aycock’s design represents the intersection of permanence and change, with two large saucers intersecting…

Land trust, conservancy preserve land along river

The Sussex County Land Trust and Chesapeake Conservancy have joined forces with several other partners to preserve a 41-acre parcel on the south side of the Nanticoke River known as Nanticoke Crossing Park.

Located on the opposite side of Woodland, about 4 miles west of Seaford, the property includes 29 acres of mixed hardwood-pine forest, 12 acres of open area with large canopy trees, and 1,900 feet of meandering shoreline with healthy, freshwater tidal and wetland plants. It contains direct access to the river by means of an old lagoon that will be revitalized for public use.

Purchased from Absher Farms LLC, Nanticoke Crossing Park features a rolling topography overlooking the river.

Several partnerships helped acquire the property, including Sussex County Council, Chesapeake Conservancy, Mt. Cuba Center, U.S. Navy Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program, Delaware Open Space Program, Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, and Sussex County Land Trust.

The opportunity to protect the site was presented to SCLT by the Chesapeake Conservancy. The conservancy, in partnership with Delaware-based Mt. Cuba Center, assists local and state entities by facilitating funding and negotiations for protection projects in the region. This marks a successful landmark collaboration by intergovernmental and nonprofit organizations to preserve land in western Sussex County to be protected for conservation and recreational use.

“The Navy is proud to be a contributing partner for the protection of Nanticoke Crossing Park. This project demonstrates that we can successfully protect military readiness in the Navy’s airspace and support our communities through land preservation and creation of public recreation opportunities,” said Rob Vargo, Department of the Navy Atlantic Ranges and Targets Department director.

“The protection and preservation of Nanticoke Crossing Park is a great example of leveraging partnerships and resources for the greater good of Sussex County,” said Casey Kenton, SCLT chairman.
