Undefeated Andrew Strode goes for gold at BKFC 78

Andrew Strode has been waiting his whole life for this moment.

At BKFC 78 on July 12, the undefeated Denver fighter challenges Gee Perez (5-1) for the Interim BKFC World Flyweight Championship at the legendary Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.

Strode has quickly shot up the rankings in BKFC’s talent-rich, 125-pound weight class, amassing a 3-0 record since signing with the promotion in 2023. All of Strode’s wins have come by stoppage, including finishes over perennial contenders Tyler Randall and Chancy Wilson in his two most recent trips to the Squared Circle.

“This is the biggest test of my career,” the unbeaten Strode says ahead of his summertime clash in Florida.

“I’ve been boxing for 20 years, but this is bigger than all of my previous fights put together. This is the first time that I’ve ever fought for a belt on the professional stage.”

Despite the high stakes, Strode is approaching this fight the same way he has approached his previous matchups in the Squared Circle.

“It’s business as usual, and I’m keeping everything in perspective — it’s just another day at the office for me,” Strode says.

“I’ve been fighting every day my whole life, preparing for this moment, and I’m just ready.”

Strode is proud to represent Denver in the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion. He’s driven to follow BKFC World Cruiserweight Champion Chris Camozzi and become the second BKFC World Titlist from The Mile High City.

“I’m taking the win and I’m taking the belt home to Denver. I know my opponent is a great fighter and he’s going to come to fight, but this belt is coming home with me,” he says.

“This is everything that I’ve dreamed and worked for since I was a kid.”

3-Year-Old fillies at Pocono in PA All-Stars – U.S. Trotting News

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Two daughters of Greenshoe accounted for two of three $30,000 divisions of a Pennsylvania All-Stars event for three-year-old trotting fillies at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on Monday (May 26) afternoon, with Goodgirl Bi IT (1:53.3) and Princess Jackie (1:54.2) both taking new marks as the favorites in winning their sectors. The other winner was the International Moni miss Payback Moni, who recorded a mild upset in 1:55.1.

Goodgirl Bi IT was in full control at the end of her Pennsylvania All-Stars division Monday at Pocono. Curtis Salonick photo.

Goodgirl Bi IT waited in third as Shes A Shoe In recorded splits of :26.4, :55.4, and 1:25 in their All-Stars sector, with driver Mattias Melander finally going to the right line mid-far turn, and the winner sprinting past the pacesetter to win by 4-1/2 lengths. Mattias’s brother Marcus trains the winner of three of four 2025 starts for Courant Inc.

Princess Jackie, a three-time winner in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes competition last year, recorded her first win of this campaign in her cut, as Jim Marohn Jr. put her on the engine and laid down fractions :27.4, :56.4, and 1:25.1 before defeating Mean Dareen by three lengths. Princess Jackie now has a career bankroll of $211,383 for trainer-owner D. R. Ackerman.

Payback Moni found herself in a bit of an unfortunate spot early, three-wide in a four-way battle for the lead well into turn one, but the inside and outside horses made breaks before the quarter, letting driver Brady Brown settle his filly into the two-hole behind Country Victory just past a :27.4 first split. After a :57.2 half, Brown moved Payback Moni out and past the leader before a 1:26 three-quarters, but that…

Paige Bueckers Details How Special It Is to Play First WNBA Game Back in Connecticut

Paige Bueckers has the opportunity to do something really special on Tuesday night when her Dallas Wings face the Connecticut Sun. The Wings have yet to capture their first win of the 2025 season, meaning Bueckers is still waiting for her first WNBA win. The No. 1 pick could pick up that first victory back in an arena where she used to compete with UConn.

The Wings will play at Mohegan Sun Arena, a venue where the Huskies went 15-0 during Bueckers’s tenure with the Huskies. She’s hoping to continue that luck when the Wings play on Tuesday night.

“I feel like Mohegan is like my second home to Gampel [Pavilion] in Connecticut, so it’s great to be back,” Bueckers said, via Hartford Courant‘s Emily Adams. “It’s definitely different. It’ll be weird stepping on the court, I think, not in a UConn uniform, but it’ll be something that I’ll enjoy with a new experience and a new team and new organization. It’s just another step in the new journey, and I’ll definitely enjoy being back here in the state I love so much.

“I don’t think we lost in my UConn career at Mohegan, so we’re trying to carry those vibes over to this game, just approach it with a winning mentality and trying to conquer the next game in front of us.”

It would be extremely fitting if Bueckers can win her first WNBA game back in Connecticut, where she became a huge basketball star with UConn.

Bueckers has already had a homecoming in her home state of Minnesota when the Wings faced the Lynx last week. Now, she will have her reunion at her second home in Connecticut this week.

Paige Bueckers Confronts Harsh Reality in Connecticut Return Months After Unforgettable UConn Farewell

When Paige Bueckers entered the arena to lock horns against the Minnesota Lynx, the competition was intense. Not only were the Wings already 0-1 against the No. 1 team in the WNBA, but Bueckers also had some familiar support cheering for her courtside—her best friend and former UConn teammate, Azzi Fudd. It had been over a month since Fudd last saw Bueckers play live, so she ensured to take out some time. But while the Husky was fortunate enough to make it happen, Bueckers wasn’t so lucky. “You know the schedule and how rough it is and how you’re always on the go,” Bueckers explained. And, just one game later, though, she finally found her way back to what she calls her second home.

Thanks to the long WNBA schedule, the Wings were set to play their fourth regular-season game against the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. So you can already imagine the excitement Bueckers must be feeling. “It’s great to be back, great to continue with this journey. Excited for the next day,” she said. But returning to a familiar court with a 0-4 record isn’t the ideal homecoming, especially when it’s a place tied to so many of her cherished memories.

At the Mohegan Sun Arena, Bueckers has played 15 games. And for each one, they exited undefeated. The Huskies and coach Geno Auriemma went 15-0 overall and 12-0 in the Big East Tournament during their star guard’s run. Bueckers even earned the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player third time, en route to their fifth straight conference title. The Wings’ rookie is now looking to carry a little of that charm to her new team.
