Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — In a veritable hotbed for politician visits, northeastern Pennslylvania will host former President Trump on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes Barre. His visit comes just days after President Biden’s stop in Wikes-Barre.

Doors for the rally, held at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, 255 Highland Park Boulevard, open at 2 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m. 

Fellow Republican candidates including State Senator Doug Mastriano, running for governor; Dr. Mehmet Oz for U.S. senator; and Jim Bognet for U.S. representative will begin their remarks at 4 p.m. 

Pennsylvania State Police warn of traffic delays in and around the area.

Workers are expecting a full house of more than 100,000 people. PA Home Page reports that people are already showing up for the rally.

Security fences are in place and tents are being set up at the entrance. Vendors who make a living following Trump rallies across the country are setting up with their memorabilia and merchandise.

Former President Donald Trump will host another one of his Save America rallies, this time in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The former president will speak in support of Republican candidates Mehmet Oz and state Sen. Doug Mastriano ahead of their crucial midterm elections in November.

Save America rally in support of Dr. Oz will be held at Mohegan Sun Arena

President Trump’s rally will be held at Mohegan Sun Arena. The rally comes just over two months before Election Day, in a race in which both Oz, the Republican Senate nominee, and Mastriano, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, trail their Democratic opponents in polling and fund-raising.

Mr. Trump announced the rally in an email from his Save America PAC while Mastriano was in Pittsburgh for an event with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. “Please join us for a Save America Rally in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA! Entertainment and Concessions will be available throughout the day,” read the official announcement.

The speeches at the Trump rally will start at 4 p.m., with the former president scheduled to speak at 7 p.m.

On Friday, Donald Trump‘s Save America PAC announced the rally as one for “the entire Pennsylvania Trump Ticket.” Jim Bognet, a Republican congressional candidate running in a rematch against U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, is also expected to attend.

Mehmet Oz, who trails Democrat Lt. Gov. John Fetterman in recent polls by five to ten points, also trails him in fund-raising. Last quarter, the Democratic candidate raised about $11 million. Oz raised only $3.8 million, including $2 million for his campaign.

Aug. 25—MONTVILLE — Residents voted to turn over two roads and a portion of a third to the Mohegan tribe at a Town Meeting on Wednesday night.

The vote was 29-4. The four voters not in favor are residents of one of the three streets.

The Wednesday’s vote approved the transfer of Sunny Hill Drive, Fort Shantok Road East and a portion of Shantok Heights Road. The town will maintain ownership of all other portions of Shantok Heights Road and Fort Shantok Road.

Town Clerk Katie Haring explained the Town Council must now set a date for a public hearing on an ordinance that would allow the transfer of the property by the Town Council.

The town entered an agreement with the tribe last August to turn over the roads using a a quit-claim deed. Although the transferred sections of road only provide access to tribal land, and only tribe members live along them, not all residents approved of the plan Wednesday.

Eileen MacDonald and Barbara Cedio of Shantok Heights Road voiced their concerns about a gate the tribe plans to erect across the eastern portion of Shantok Heights Road to prevent access to Sunny Hill Drive at its midpoint, creating a dead end for residents.

MacDonald, who said she’s lived on the road for nearly 30 years with her husband Ed, said residents have used Sunny Hill Drive to access their homes as an alternative to the steep incline of Shantok Heights Road.

She added that emergency vehicles and garbage trucks, will also no longer be able to use the alternate route.

Tribal attorney Harry Heller assured residents that fire and police services will have keys to access the gate. MacDonald said that assurance did not ease her concerns.

“It could be a very dangerous situation,” MacDonald said.
