Water main break impacts customers in Luzerne County

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A water main break is leaving customers out to dry Thursday morning in Luzerne County.

According to a representative from PA American Water, the break occurred along an 18-inch main near a creek off of Route 29.

28/22 News is told that residents in Nanticoke, Plymouth, and Newport Township have been affected with low pressure.

Crews are currently attempting to isolate the break.

UW–Madison to cover full cost of undergraduate degree for students from Wisconsin Indian tribes

Beginning in the fall of 2024, the University of Wisconsin–Madison will offer financial support to cover the full cost of pursuing an undergraduate degree for Wisconsin residents who are enrolled members of federally recognized Wisconsin Indian tribes, Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin announced today.

The commitment covers not only tuition and fees but also housing, meals, books and other educational expenses.

Additionally, a 5-year pilot program will cover in-state tuition and fees for students pursuing a J.D. (law) or M.D. (medical) degree who are Wisconsin residents and enrolled members of federally recognized Wisconsin tribes.

Together, the two new initiatives will be called the Wisconsin Tribal Educational Promise program. The program does not rely on taxpayer funding; rather, it’s supported by other institutional resources, such as private donations.

“As a university, we are deeply committed to a future of mutual respect and cooperation with the American Indian tribes in Wisconsin,” Mnookin says. “This program is another tangible, meaningful step in that direction.”

Yes, it’s a flavour combination that might sound a little unusual, but given the current trend for all things umami – meaning savoury flavour, which is one of the five basic tastes – it’s little wonder some genius attempted a crossover into the whisky market.

Packed with delicate unami notes, Bearface’s Matsutake mushroom expression is like no other – for multiple reasons.

Unlike the UK (and much of the world for that matter), Canada’s unique regulations state that anything labelled ‘Canadian whisky’, ‘Canadian rye whisky’, or even just plain ‘rye whisky’ has to be aged in a specific way.

Sour Orange Diesel Kush—Nanticoke, NY, fall 2023

We got actual notes of sour, orange, diesel, and kush from this 2023 sungrown light-dep strain in New York’s nascent legal market. The green nugs proved to be medium-density of varying sizes—and we got the sense that they had been a tad overdried. The Sour Orange Diesel Kush ground up nice and fragrant, but we wanted the taste to be more full-bodied and terpy.

However, the hybrid effects did deliver, and put a zest in our step as we explored Washington Square Park and more of Manhattan. I don’t think a newby New York tourist would be mad about this pick from Union Square Travel Agency. But it won’t wow a connoisseur either.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. — The Women’s Hall of Fame Showcase featured six teams ranked in the women’s basketball Associated Press Top 25, and the competition didn’t disappoint. While there weren’t any upsets as has been the case most weekends of the season so far, there were three quality contests involving six teams likely to make noise in the 2024 NCAA tournament.

“You can’t turn on a women’s game right now and be bored,” North Carolina head coach and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) president Courtney Banghart said. “It’s just not possible.”

No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 UCLA and No. 17 UConn all walked out of Mohegan Sun Arena with résumé-building wins as teams turn toward conference games this month. Here’s what we learned from seven hours of elite basketball in Connecticut on Sunday.

UConn isn’t done

Paige Bueckers turned a mourning into a block party, making a statement that UConn’s quest for another deep NCAA tournament run is far from over. The entire team looked more hungry than they had in recent games, and Bueckers was in classic Naismith-winner mode even if there are issues still to be cleaned up.

She scored a game-high 26 points, 17 in the first half, and pumped stats into every part of the box score. Defensively, she was stout. The 5-foot-11 guard had three of the team’s 10 steals and four of the team’s six blocks. It bested her previous career-high of two.

On 15 December, the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) organized a workshop to identify ways to help Libyan political leaders find a path towards elections and end the current political stalemate. A group of young women and men took part and presented their suggestions to Special Representative of the Secretary General Abdoulaye Bathily. “For a peaceful, inclusive and democratic country we need to bring the five major stakeholders together to find a compromise and restore the electoral process,” he said, adding that this would open a new door for Libya, its youth, and its future.
