An oasis for exploration and active outdoor excursions, Ohio’s Mohican State Park should be on the list of places to visit for any visitor to the Buckeye State. Located just 60 miles southwest of Akron—and 80 miles from Cleveland—the park offers a tranquil escape from those bustling urban settings. But if you’re in the mood for an adventure, you’ll find plenty to love here too.

The state park covers a little more than 1,100 acres but packs more into that space than most other outdoor destinations twice its size. Visitors will be awestruck by the rolling landscapes, which include the beautiful and dramatic Clear Fork Gorge. This amazing location stretches a thousand feet across and 300 feet high, creating towering vantage points for surveying the area. Visitors will also discover dense hemlock forests situated along the Mohican River, creating a gorgeous setting all year long, but is especially colorful in the fall.

BUFFALO, N. Y. — The Bandits quest for their first league title since 2008 continued on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m., in Buffalo’s Keybank Centre.

One year ago, nearly the same NLL Final scenario played out at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, with the outcome of 2022’s 15-14 Bandits Game 1 triumph looking mighty similar to this year’s 2023 finals opening act.

Colorado took care of business on their home floor for Game 2 in 2022 as well, winning 11-8 before heading back to Banditland for the Game 3 series clincher. This year, the Mammoth took nearly the same win, 16-10 in their home arena.

But on Saturday night, after 15 long years, Buffalo secured their spot as 2023 NLL Final champions after a strong win of 13-4 over Colorado.

“Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) would like to congratulate Tehoka Nanticoke, Adam Bomberry and the Buffalo Bandits on capturing the National Lacrosse League (NLL) championship,” wrote the SNGR Facebook page.

Nanticoke broke game scoring with the first goal from Josh Bryne, then proceeded to earn multiple assists throughout the remaining game time.

Alex Liu: the youngest person to ever finish the Mohican MTB100k

It’s right around 50 miles into the Mohican MTB100k. I’m doing well, feeling strong. Stonger than last year, at least. The temperature outside is about as hot as it’s going to get — 68 degrees — and I can almost taste the finish line. I’m making good time. I keep wondering how much time I’ll have shaved from last year.

Couple minutes later, I’m pedaling up a hill. It’s a gravel road and, on a normal riding day, not too steep. Doable. But today, I get about a third of the way up and I gotta dismount. Walk. I know I have a few more steeper climbs ahead of me that I’d like to save the energy for. Because, for the last three miles or so, pavement. I wanna hammer there to finish strong.

When I started this particular hill, I was the only one on it. When I get off to hike it, I look to my left and I see a kid. He’s on a titanium Lightspeed hardtail. Little dude’s hammering. I mean, really cranking. He doesn’t look at me; his laser eyes searching for the crest.

Later on, as I finish climbing yet another brutal hill — this time in the woods — I see him off the trail looking at the back of his bike with another fatigued racer.

“The disk brake is jammed. Something’s lodged in there.”

I’m troubled. Do I keep my head down and let the other guy help the kid? I mean, I’m almost there. How much time can I shave off? Can I afford to help these guys? It looks like the other, older racer can figure it out.

“Hm, mind if I take a look?” I say. Guess I’m stopping.

Nineteen Canadians win 2023 National Lacrosse League Cup

The Buffalo Bandits won the 2023 National Lacrosse League Cup on Saturday. In a best of three final, the Bandits defeated the Colorado Mammoth two games to one. In the third game of the series on Saturday, the Bandits beat the Mammoth 13-4.

The 19 Canadians on the Bandits are forwards Tehoka Nanticoke of Six Nations, Ontario, Dhane Smith and Chris Cloutier of Kitchener, Ontario, Brad McCulley of Victoria, British Columbia, Sam La Roue of South Surrey, British Columbia, Josh Byrne of New Westminster, British Columbia, Kyle Buchanan of Nepean, Ontario, and Chase Fraser of Vancouver, British Columbia, transition players Ian MacKay of Port Elgin, Ontario, Nick Weiss of Port Hope, Ontario, defensemen Adam Bomberry of Six Nations, Justin Martin of Oakville, Ontario, Steve Priolo of St. Catharines, Ontario, Matt Spanger of Toronto, Ontario, Ethan O’Connor of Milton, Ontario, Justin Robinson of Pickering, Ontario, and Bryce Sweeting of Peterborough, Ontario, and goaltenders Devlin Shanahan of Mississauga, Ontario, and Matt Vinc of St. Catharines.

In game three of the NLL Cup on Sunday, Byrne led the Bandits with four goals, while Smith led the Bandits with seven assists and nine points.

Godsmack Rocks Mohegan Sun Arena on Final Stop of Best of Times World Tour

For the final stop on their Best of Times World Tour, Godsmack takes on Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena. Being from the Boston area, this show is the closest to a hometown show the band has gotten on this tour. Frontman Sully Erna even mentioned that many of his family members were out in the crowd.

These Alternative Metal giants released a new album back in February entitled Lighting Up The Sky. After almost five years since their previous release, the band returned kicking and screaming with their eighth studio album and subsequent world tour.

After the brief break following the Austin Meade set, the audience returned, beers in hand, as the lights went down. A mashup of classic hard rock tunes began to play as blue and red lights flashed throughout the packed arena.

The curtain in front of the stage dropped, and the audience cheered… until they realised there was still another curtain separating them from the start of the show.
