Good Morning

I salute each and every one of you, you are the ones that contribute to restoring hope to thousands of people in this country, all those who are present in this hall today, or even those who are absent today have played a key role.

As you know, staff prepare these speeches, but I will not read all what is here, and there is an Arabic saying: Brevity is the soul of wit. But allow me to begin this intervention by commending the National Security Advisor, His Excellency, Qassim Al-Araji, on his efforts and the efforts of his important institution. I would also like to commend our UN partner, Minister of Migration and Displacement, Her Excellency Ivan Fa’iq Jabro. You are now well known in international circles, especially in the UN.

Colleagues from the United Nations,

It is a privilege to address you all on this occasion at the launch of the second iteration of the ONE UN Plan: New Beginnings. This plan represents a renewed and collective commitment to find a solution to one of the most challenging and pressing priorities for Iraq; the safe, voluntary, and dignified return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of Iraqis stranded in Al-Hol Camp and other parts of northeastern Syria.

Allow me to begin with His Excellency Prime Minister Mohammed Sha’aa Al Sudani and the Government of Iraq, for his commitment, leadership and wisdom in addressing this humanitarian and security challenge and for reading the situation accurately.

Daniella Ranieli scored 14 of her game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter as Pittston Area defeated Wyoming Valley West 44-38 Monday in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 girls basketball game.

The score was tied 28-28 after three quarters before Ranieli helped the Patriots prevail.

Thalia Irizarry scored 15 for Valley West.

Hazleton Area 87, Berwick 42

Unbeaten Hazleton Area used a 31-point first quarter to pull away early.

Kaitlyn Bindas led Hazleton Area with 27 points. Sophia Benyo scored 16 and Alexis Reimold added 11.

Maurice Emroy Ninham

Maurice Emroy Ninham

Maurice Emroy Ninham, enrolled member of the Oneida Nation, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Saturday January 25, 2025, at the Anna John Nursing Home in Oneida, Wisconsin. Maurice was born on April 6, 1939, in the Town of Red Springs, Gresham, Wisconsin he was the son of Morris “Buckshot” Ninham and Collen Estelle (Bowman) Ninham. He was the second oldest of twelve siblings. A dedicated social worker in Milwaukee for many years. Maurice made a lasting impact by addressing elder abuse in nursing homes, leading to improved policies that protected vulnerable individuals. His achievements included earning a master’s degree in social work as a young Native American, inspiring many family members to pursue advanced degrees. He also gained recognition for his administrative skills in Alaska and on the Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation. Maurice was very proud of his son, David, who obtained his master’s and became a professional artist painting portraits that can be seen on Oneida and Stockbridge-Munsee Reservations. He deeply loved country music and was a talented musician who sang and played piano and guitar. During his time in Milwaukee, he even led his band. Known for his generosity, Maurice often sent money home to help support his parents and younger siblings. Maurice will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of kindnessm hard work and dedication will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. May he find peace and be reunited with loved ones who have gone before hime.

Maurice is survived by his sister, Janet Mae (John) Hill; brothers, Craig Keith Ninham, Kenneth Richard (Florence A. Vallier-Ninham) Ninham, Allen Ray Ninham, Robert Lee Ninham; along with 17 nieces, 14 nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Zac Brown Band Maps Out 2025 Spring Tour Including Multiple-Night Runs

The country-rock outfit kicks off their latest tour with two nights in Nashville this April.

Zac Brown Band announced their first batch of 2025 tour dates. The country-rock outfit will kick off their spring run with a two-night stand at new venue The Pinnacle in downtown Nashville on April 1 and 2.

“We are so excited to hit the stage at The Pinnacle and play for our incredible fans,” said Zac Brown in a statement. “Nashville is a city that’s always felt like home to us, and we can’t wait to be a part of the incredible energy this new venue brings.”

From Nashville, the band heads to Oxon Hill (Maryland) for a performance at The Theater at MGM National Harbor on April 4. Later in the month, Zac Brown Band will set up shop at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City (New Jersey) for shows on April 25 and 26. The tour’s current routing concludes at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville (Connecticut) on April 27.

Tickets for all six dates go on sale this Friday, January 24 at 10 a.m. local time.

ZBB frontman Zac Brown will perform at the MusiCares’ Grateful Dead tribute on January 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Dead & Company, Dave Matthews, Billy Strings and Maren Morris lead the star-studded lineup for the 2025 Persons Of The Year gala honoring the legendary band.

Michael M. Kratzer, 74, Sunbury

Michael McKinley Kratzer, 74, of Sunbury, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nanticoke.

He was born May 1, 1950, in Clearfield, a son of the late Earl Robert Sr. and Betty Lou (Teats) Kratzer. On June 12, 1988, he married the former Nancy K. Engle who survives.

Munsee Lanes: The Heartbeat of Local Bowling and Community.

MUNCIE, Ind. – With the cold weather keeping Muncie locals inside for the winter, it’s been very hard for citizens to find activities that are fit for the whole family. However, there is a hidden gem in the town of Muncie by the name of Munsee Lanes. The owner, Stan Willis, shares what it means to him to see people come to his bowling alley.

“It means they’re happy,” said Willis. “So that’s the main thing as long as they are happy and they had a good time, then they’ll come back.”

Opening up back in the 1960s, Munsee Lanes has not only been serving strikes for over 60 years, but they have also been giving back to the community. 

“Some people do fundraisers like if people have a hardship like a fire,” said Marlee Delk, manager of Munsee Lanes. “So it’s just stuff that helps other people in the community.”

Not only does giving the community a chance to fundraise at Munsee Lanes mean a lot to Delk, but being a part of the bowling alley as a whole means a lot more.

“It means a lot,” said Delk. “ We’ve grown up in the bowling alleys. My husband used to work at bowling alleys, and my kids are getting into bowling.”

The giving does not stop there; Munsee Lanes not only provides arcade games and bowling, but also hands out food that will be right up anyone’s alley.
