Greetings, all! It’s March, the month of St. Patty’s Day parades: Pittston, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre. This Saturday, Scranton has theirs beginning at 9 a.m. I will most likely view it on TV.
Also, this month begins the Lenten season for Christians. Today, Ash Wednesday, St. Patrick’s in Nicholson will have a Mass and distribution of ashes at 9:30 a.m., while Our Lady the Abingtons in Dalton it will take place earlier at 8 a.m., and Saint Mary of the Lake in Lake Winola has their service at 6:30 p.m.
Congratulations to all our Lackawanna Trail athletes who competed for championships this past weekend. Lackawanna Trail Boys Basketball played at Mohegan Arena for District Titles, and six wrestlers were at Regionals trying to clinch a berth in the state tournament.
Lackawanna Trail celebrated their bus drivers with a wonderful breakfast, complete with a performance by our high school jazz band.
LT School Board meets this Monday at 7:30 p.m., also on Zoom having had their work session this past Monday.
This Friday, Francine Kiryluk has her potato pancakes for sale at St. Patrick’s Church in Nicholson. Order by noon that day by calling 570-563-1622. 3 for $6, sour cream or applesauce $.50 each. Leave your name and contact with your order. Pick up Friday 4-6 p.m.
The Office Bar and Grill at 271 Main St. in Nicholson is doing a special fund-raising event for Wendy Swift who suffered a devasting loss after a home fire in January. They are looking for donations of baskets to raffle off. Please drop them off at the Office any time before the event. The event will be on Friday, March 14 from 7-11 p.m., and features live music by John Bower.
