Band Maroon 5 will perform at the Inspire Arena in Incheon in March [MOHEGAN INSPIRE]

 
Maroon 5 will come to Korea for a two-day blowout performance at the Inspire Arena in March to celebrate Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort’s grand opening.
 
The Grammy award-winning band will perform on March 8 and 9 at the 15,000-seat arena, located on Yeongjong Island in Incheon, according to Mohegan Inspire on Thursday.
The resort also promised a star-studded lineup of events, including K-pop concerts and international sports events, for the entire month of March. The performing artists have not been revealed.
 
Before the opening day on March 5, global K-pop artists will perform at the Inspire Salute 2024 concert held at the resort on March 2. Locals, the resort’s employees and their families, Inspire Momentum members and hotel guests staying at the resort will be invited to the event, according to Mohegan Inspire.
 
On March 16, alternative hip-hop groups will grace the stage at the resort. For five days, from March 27 to 31, the resort will host the World Table Tennis Champions tournament, where 32 top table tennis players, including Korea’s Shin Yu-bin and China’s Fan Zhendong and Sun Yingsha, will participate in the games.
 
Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort opened its five-star hotel, state-of-the-art Inspire Arena, restaurants and entertainment street “Aurora” to visitors on Nov. 30 last year, and its foreigner-only Inspire Casino, Korea’s largest casino to date, last Saturday.

HARTFORD — One of the first decisions Geno Auriemma made after he started as UConn women’s basketball coach in 1985 was hiring Chris Dailey to his staff. After winning his 1,200th career game on Wednesday night, he knows hitting a home run with that decision has helped define his ever-growing legacy.

“I knew very, very early, before we played our first game or I even had the job yet that if she would agree to come here and coach with me and us, we could be good,” Auriemma said after the 67-34 win over Seton Hall. “Obviously nobody envisioned this, but that decision I think made every other decision possible. … By getting that one right, we set ourselves for something like this to happen.”

Dailey has been Auriemma’s other half for all 39 seasons at UConn, three as an assistant and the last 36 as associate head coach. In fact, several of Auriemma’s 1,200 wins are technically Dailey’s: She has led the team to 17 victories when serving as head coach in his absence. Her perfect record includes wins in the 1989 and 1997 Big East Tournament championship games and in the first two rounds of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Only two other coaches in college basketball history have surpassed 1,200 wins, Stanford women’s coach Tara Vanderveer (1,206) and former Duke men’s coach Mike Krzyzewski (1,202). Auriemma and Dailey are the only pair to reach the milestone in fewer than 45 seasons and to do so with a single program. (Krzyzewski won 73 games as head coach at Army).

Mohegan Inspire Resort announced that the first South Korean foreigners-only casino in almost two decades is set to open on Saturday in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. 

The property got its license from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 23 to open a new foreigners-only casino in South Korea for the first time in 19 years, as reported by The Korean Herald.

Mohegan Inspire Resort’s casino is considered the country’s biggest gambling property with more than 150 types of table games, 390 slot machines, and 160 electronic table games (ETG) to entertain overseas tourists. The two-story casino also has a special floor for VIP guests, featuring a Guandong-style fine dining restaurant.

After the resort held its soft opening on November 30, 2023, it hosted several K-pop idol concerts as well as the Melon Music Awards (MMA), one of the nation’s biggest music awards shows, in December.

The resort is the eighth property of its parent company, Mohegan. Spanning a land area of 461,661 square meters, the facility required an investment of approximately KRW 2 trillion ($1.53 billion).

The entertainment resort is scheduled to make its grand opening in the first quarter and plans to open all available facilities within the second half of this year, according to Mohegan Inspire Resort officials.

Earlier in the month, the resort announced its achievement of a five-star hotel rating from the Korean Hotel Rating System, administered by the Korea Tourism Association (KTA). This recognition, the highest in the Korean system, underscores the resort’s commitment to excellence in luxury hospitality, according to the announcement.

DETROIT (AP) — Tesla is recalling nearly all of the vehicles it has sold in the U.S. because some warning lights on the instrument panel are too small.

The recall of nearly 2.2 million vehicles announced Friday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a sign of stepped-up scrutiny of the electric vehicle maker. The agency also said it has upgraded a 2023 investigation into Tesla steering problems to an engineering analysis, a step closer to a recall.

Documents posted Friday by the agency say the warning light recall will be done with an online software update. It covers the 2012 through 2023 Model S, the 2016 through 2023 Model X, the 2017 through 2023 Model 3, the 2019 through 2024 Model Y and the 2024 Cybertruck.

The agency says that the brake, park and antilock brake warning lights have a smaller font size than required by federal safety standards. That can make critical safety information hard to read, increasing the risk of a crash.

Tesla has already started releasing the software update, and owners will be notified by letter starting March 30.

NHTSA says it found the problem in a routine safety compliance audit on Jan. 8.

Tesla has identified three warranty claims potentially related to the problem, but has no reports of crashes or injuries.

Shares of Tesla Inc., which have been in a downward trend since July and slumped after the company’s fourth quarter earnings report last week, fell another 2.7% in early trading Friday to levels not seen since May of last year.
